Although we really do prefer to hear the oohs and aahs, generate the cheers, hear the rapturous applause, and crown the winner personally, online awards do allow everyone to be involved.
But less about that, and more about the results, in this, our 6th year and arguably our most successful.
The most important result naturally is our 2020 Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year. This year the coveted title travels all the way to Australia for our first ever antipodean winner of the competition…
“12 judges selected this image as the overall winner”
Mark’s image of Terry the Turtle, the first time an underwater image has won this competition, will quite possibly need something more than a PG certificate, but for many of the public, the judges, and from the comments on our social media posts, this image has struck a chord with those of us striving to make the world a more considerate one for all the beasts that share the planet with us. Indeed, this image seemed to hit both the humorous and the serious notes right bang on the head. 12 judges selected this image as the overall winner, and we hope that you, the reason this competition exists, agree with us.
For all the brilliance of the winning image, it is still incredibly difficult not to award the prize to some of the best images ever entered into the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
The giraffe photobomb, the bachelor party penguinsthe racoon stretching from the tree, the swinging monkeys…
the list covers all finalists this year. And there were more. Those that didn’t quite make the finalists, fantastic entries that just missed the cut. To all of these we tip our hats in admiration to the photographers, and the animals that were captured (photographed) so well.
For all of you that have more amazing images then please put them in a safe place until next year. We want to see them. The 7th Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards will open: March 1st 2021 Read more from Comedy Wildlife Photo
