You can now be the sheriff of your own Western town near Datil, New Mexico — if you’re willing to shell out $1.6 million.
The 58-acre land in what is dubbed the Town of Gabriella claims to be the most authentic Wild West town in New Mexico. A perfect setting for a Western film based in the 1880s, the town includes a barbershop, a hotel with fully furnished bedrooms, a saloon, a jail, a church, a barn and an apparel shop. In total, there are 18 structures in the Old West imitation, with a realistic Western feel both inside and out, reports Realtor.com.
The saloon is a 12-by-14-foot space with a full bar and back bar area, and the hotel is a functional two-story property. The church is filled with rows of benches and a pastor’s podium, while the apparel shop is stocked with 1800s-type costumes available for use in movie productions, events and photo shoots. The barn is one of the bigger buildings in the town and can be used for a variety of purposes.
The town was built from the ground up by owner Larry Iams, who purchased the lot around 20 years ago. The land surrounding the area has no traces of modern life, meaning no power lines, no airplanes flying over and not too many signs of people in general.
Iams lives nearby and is willing to let the town go to a purchaser who will “keep the Old West history alive,” he said. The Town of Gabriella has already hosted a number of productions, events, shoots, weddings and private parties. Read more from NY Post.
