Dunkin’ is adding an extra boost and some confetti into its lineup in time for the new year.
The chain launches “Extra Charged Coffee” on Wednesday, which it says has 20% more caffeine than Dunkin’s classic hot and iced coffee. For a limited time – from Wednesday through Jan. 26 – medium Extra Charged Coffees will be $2.
The new coffee is served hot or iced and includes green coffee extract, which gives the extra caffeination.
“Heading into January, people could use a little extra of a lot of things, including extra encouragement, extra energy, and extra excitement,” Dunkin’ said in a news release Tuesday.
Also beginning Wednesday, the company will brew two coffee blends, Dunkin’ Midnight and Explorer Batch, which are available only hot.
Midnight is described as “the brand’s darkest roast ever, featuring a rich, smooth, full-bodied flavor, rounded out with notes of decadent cocoa and an intensely dark finish.” Explorer Batch is the first coffee to be introduced in Dunkin’s Limited Batch Series and is a medium roast with dark berry notes and a smoky finish.
Dunkin’ has a few new items to go along with the new beverages, the Dunkfetti Donut, a cake ring with confetti sprinkles baked in and topped with a sweet glaze, a gluten-free fudge brownie and Croissant Stuffers.
There’s a quiz with a contest, too. The My Dunkin’ Mood Quiz will help coffee fans figure out the best drink to match their mood and will be available Wednesday through Jan. 31 at www.mydunkinmood.com, Dunkin’ says. Read more from USA Today.
