The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of nearly 300,000 pounds of ready-to-eat corned beef products. The FSIS received a tip from an industry representative that the products did not undergo the necessary import re-inspection needed.

MW Polar of Norwalk, CA, is recalling about 297,715 pounds of corned beef products as a result. These corned beef products were imported and distributed across the country on various dates between June 6, 2020, to Jan. 21, 2021, the announcement states. A full round-up of the codes featured on the recalled items can be found here and the labels read “Australia Inspected” and number “39.”

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions linked to the recall at the time of publication. If anyone has experienced negative symptoms after consuming the specific products in the recall, they should contact a healthcare provider to be safe. The FSIS believes that some of the corned beef items may be in customer’s refrigerators or pantries and if you have the products in your possession you should not consume and dispose of them immediately or return them to their place of purchase.
