A late-night luxury car robbery turned into a shooting, a standoff with a hostage negotiation team and one of four car thieves in custody, Miami Beach police said Sunday.
Beach police originally said earlier Sunday two people had been taken into custody after the incident, which began late Saturday night and stretched into Sunday’s first hours.
Police say a 911 call concerning a car robbery and possible home invasion summoned officers to 4395 Pine Tree Dr., which Miami-Dade County property records say is a seven-bedroom, eight-full bathroom, three-half bathroom home that sold for $19.2 million in July 2018.
But police say the four men who came over the front wall weren’t interested into the home as much as the Rolls-Royce, white Porsche 911, green Lamborghini Urus and Range Rover parked in the driveway. The security guard on the property shot the robber in the Range Rover.
His cohort in the Rolls jumped into either the Porsche (Florida license plate QQIK17) or the Lamborghini (Florida license plate QGLI53) and all three raced away. The shot man in the Range Rover eventually gave up after a standoff that lasted until after 2 a.m. Police say he’s listed in critical, but stable condition. Read more from Miami Herald.
