“On,” a Swiss sneaker company that is becoming renowned for the high-quality, uniquely styled running sneakers, may have been unknown a year ago, but they are growing rapidly. Roger Federer helping them along the way certainly has helped.
The brand won the hearts of athletes and runners around the world during the pandemic, but already captured the heart of the former world No. 1 in 2019 when he became part-owner of On. Federer has reportedly invested $54 million into the company, even releasing a sneaker named after him, the “Roger”, an all-white pair released in the summer of 2020 for $200.
The Swiss Maestro was seen wearing a version of the same shoe at the French Open and Wimbledon this year.
Although the brand has a far journey ahead to reach the same marketing budgets and brand recognition of Nike, a company bringing in around $44.5 billion in sales each year, On is moving fast. The running shoe brand is comparable to brands like Brooks Running with revenue of almost $850 million.
However, you won’t see any Ons shoes at the Olympics from Federer as he withdrew from the competition, citing on-going issues with full recovery from his second knee surgery last year.
With the appeal of Federer on their side, On will be winning on the major stage in no time. Read more from Tennis.
