‘Lucky to be alive’- survives crash with metal chunk

A driver walked away from a crash on Interstate 95 on Tuesday, from which first responders say he was “lucky to be alive.”

Just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man was driving a Ford pickup truck south on I-95 near Woolbright Road in Delray Beach when a piece of metal suddenly crashed through the driver’s side of the windshield, according to Delray Beach Fire Rescue.

The man survived the impact and only received minor injuries despite his vehicle sustaining heavy damage.

“He is lucky to be alive,” DBFR Battalion Chief Todd Lynch said.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the scene.
