On Friday night around 8:30 p.m. Colorado Springs Police received a phone call about potential missing ‘at-risk’ adults in their 70’s, Lee and Stella Vigil, who allegedly went hiking near the Edmundson trailhead, off East Woodmen Road.

Family members and CSPD officers arrived at the trailhead and found the car that belonged to the missing hikers and the El Paso County Search and Rescue joined the search.

Around 12:30 a.m. they found the bodies of the hikers near Monument Creek, just off of the Santa Fe Trail.

KRDO crews talked to couples and families along the trail Saturday who were surprised and horrified by the news.

“I don’t want my wife to come here alone. She always has to come with me from now on, if we come back,” Morty Zand said. Read more from KRDO
