If approved, limited first doses would be distributed to health care workers and those in the highest risk categories first. It should be available to the general population several months into 2021.
Dr. Fauci is an immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. He is considered one of the world’s leading experts on infectious diseases. He has been an instrumental source of information from the early stages of the pandemic.
Fauci was responsible for research on how HIV destroys the body’s defenses leading to the progression to AIDS.
