A minor earthquake measuring 3.6 magnitude shook the Los Angeles area early Sunday, waking up a some residents.

The quake hit East Los Angeles at about 7:01 a.m. PT at a depth of about 10 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A 3.6-magnitude earthquake is relatively small for Southern California, which sits on multiple fault lines.

Residents reported that they were awakened by sharp shaking, according to reports to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

“It felt like TWO giant JOLTS that woke me out of my morning daze,” a person wrote. Others described the event as “short but strong” and a “fast quick shake.” Read more from NBC News.
